Gr. 1 Fairy Tale Festival

To celebrate Fairy Tale Day, first graders and their families enjoyed child-centered activities and sharing.  The classrooms were filled with delightful work that carried fairy tales and medieval times across the curriculum.  Math problems, poetry and riddles were posted.  Children were filled with pride as they read their Magic Wand Story aloud.

Art projects created with Mrs. Cheri Keefer were on display.  There were still-life pictures of “Van Gogh-like” sunflowers, metal embossed shields and clay dragons and castles by each child.

Each language arts group also performed a version of Snow White. This presentation was a cooperative effort by the classroom teachers, the music teacher, Mrs. Mary Chestnut Hicks, and the dance teacher, Mrs. Lisa Simon.  Students proudly participated in every aspect of the program. Presenting the program in small groups offered many opportunities for  students to shine.

The morning ended with a family picnic.  It was an enchanted time for the first graders.
