Roy Sakuma Inspires 4th Gr.
Ukulele virtuoso Roy Sakuma visited the Class of 2016 to share his love of ukulele playing. He taught the students a new strumming style, and he impressed them when he used a pencil to play the ukulele. Accompanied by students who take lessons from his studio, he played “Molten Lava,” “Sound Check,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
In addition to playing the ukulele, Roy Sakuma led a discussion about good character traits. He reinforced the teachers’ emphasis on being considerate and cooperative on the Big Island trip and in school. He reminded students that if they had a positive attitude, they could achieve anything.
