Gr. 2 Trash Creations

Bowling, Cap Toss, an Electric Pulley, Marble Ramps! Last Friday the Lower School Library was transformed into a varied display of entertaining items you might find in a toy store. And they were all made of trash!

Grade 2 students in Mrs. Laurie White's science classes are learning about the urgent need to reduce the amount of trash in our state and on the earth. One way is to reuse attractive and interesting trash items to make something new. Each second grader constructed a creation based on his/her interests and passions. From football fields to doll houses, the Trash Creations reflected the various personalities of the children.

The students feel proud that they are helping the environment by keeping the trash out of the landfill, and several have remarked that these toys are more fun than the things they spend a lot of money on.
