Enjoying beautiful blue skies and a gentle breeze, `Iolani kindergartners and many happy parents recently trouped across the grass to Magic Island. The annual field trip to the beach gave the children a chance to play together and the moms and dads an opportunity to visit with other parents following the Ohana night gathering. The children who had learned in science to slip on a shirt, slap on a hat, and slop on sunscreen were sun safe when both playing on the sandy beach and frollicking in the water.
Also in September, the kindergartners joined the first and second graders in decorating paper bags for an IHS project to commemorate Jana Wang's birthday. The colorful bags were filled by Upper School students with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, snacks and a drink. Jana had participated in this project several years ago and her friends, students, faculty, and staff, decided it was a perfect chance to give to others once again in her memory.
