Sixth Graders Camp Out

The 6th graders recently returned from another fun filled camp at Camp Mokule’ia.  Undaunted by rumors of night marchers…or KP duty, they rose to meet many new challenges.  Foremost among the group’s activities were the Balance Log and the Zip Line, both of which took place 30 feet off the ground.  Other activities included the climbing wall, orienteering, archery and swimming.  Each team of three homerooms spent two days and a night at camp, guided by able and enthusiastic counselors from the junior and senior classes.

The two groups overlapped on Tuesday, allowing interaction among all 120 plus 6th graders in a race to complete 12 activities within a time limit.  Each evening was capped off by always exciting crab races and the campfire, where individual cabins demonstrated their talents.  Many of the sixth graders surprised themselves by stepping out of their "comfort zones," learning important leadership skills and developing a newfound confidence in their abilities.
