Philosophy Day

As a part of the sixth graders’ study of ancient Greece, they discuss the growth of philosophy, including the lives and works of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.  The contributions these men made to order, truth and logic impact us even today.  To commemorate these great thinkers, as well as those that followed them, the sixth graders engage their nimble young minds in Philosophy Day.  It is a chance for them to ponder larger questions of life, such as, “How do you know when you know something?”  Although the exercise is reputed to make some brains hurt, the sixth graders have the chance to challenge, discuss and try to resolve issues that affect their perceptions of the world.
