In this year's fifth grade program, Quest for the Treasure, the Class of 2015 traced the journey of Captain Jack Sparrow in his search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. On his quest, Sparrow forces Lady Swan and Will Turner to travel with him through time in an attempt to decipher the enigmatic line on Sparrow's treasure map: "Find enough who care."
The first part of the pirates' journey takes them to a Native American scene in the 1500s. Here they see the devastating results of not caring for the environment and of taking more than is needed.

In the second part of the journey, Sparrow and company visit the Lewis and Clark expedition of the early 1800s where they view the great diversity of plants and animals that the explorers discovered in their travels.

The third part of their voyage brings them back to ancient Hawaii where they hear the legend of Haloa and learn that caring for the environment is everybody's responsibility.

In the end, it is clear that the treasure they have been seeking is not found in a pot of gold, but rather in the gift of clean air, water, and land. We are all reminded to care for, protect, and appreciate these precious gifts.
