A-LO-HA!
The boys and girls, parents, grandparents, special guests, and teachers celebrated the culmination of the Hawaiiana unit with a Ho`olaulea on Friday, May 12. The morning activities included playing Hawaiian games, decorating a frame for the picture-taking, learning to strum and pick an ukulele, watching a lauhala weaving demonstration, and sampling Hawaiian foods...whew! The children also wrapped canned goods in ti leaves and those pu`olo will be donated to the Hawaii Foodbank.
On a beautiful sunny day (the sprinkles magically stopped) with a gorgeous backdrop of tropical foliage, the children then entertained their guests with a wonderful program filled with songs, hulas, chants, and poems. Mahalo to everyone involved!
