According to The Honolulu Star Bulletin, the latest round of National Merit Scholarship winners included six members of the 'Iolani Class of 2008. The announcement reads:
Islanders reap National Merit Scholarships
The last group of winners to be announced in 2008 by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. include several from Hawaii who received college-sponsored awards of $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
From 'Iolani School are Signe Chambers, who will attend Washington University in St. Louis; David Jaress, University of Chicago; Reid Y. Kawamoto, University of Southern California; Christina Tamaru, Whitman College; Braxton Sato, Claremont McKenna College; and Alissa Masutani, University of Southern California.
