The varsity math team placed first at Meet 7 held at King Intermediate this past Saturday to complete an undefeated season.
Led by perfect scorers William Chambers (10) and Jerrald Chau (12), Iolani amassed 235 points to McKinley's 161, Kamehameha's 155, Punahou's 146 and Roosevelt's 135.
The other team members were Richard Chang (9), Aaron Fong (12), Scott Kaneshiro (12), Leslie Kim (12), Nick Moriwaki (12), Jessi Saylors (11), Robert Shimizu (12) and Jon Wong (11).
This is Iolani's 16th consecutive Math League championship. The following students earned trophies for being among the top ten scorers in the league: Aaron Fong (12) - 2nd, Robert Shimizu (12) - 4th, Scott Kaneshiro (12) - 5th, Nick Moriwaki (12) - 10th, and Jon Wong (11) - 10th. Scott Kaneshiro also won the prestigious Senior Merit Award.
The JV team of Hao Chen (9), Vicky Kim (9), Anders Lee (10) and Teresa Ou (9) scored 68 points to McKinley's 36 and Kamehameha's 35 to win the JV division. The JV team also finished the season undefeated.
