'Iolani economists will represent the West at both the Advanced Placement and Non AP levels at the National Economics Final Five Challenge Competition in New York City on May 18 and19.
For the past three years 'Iolani teams have won national championships at this ultimate economics competition.
In addition to the competition, the students will be treated to two tours of New York City, a Broadway play, a dinner cruise around the island of Manhattan, and perhaps some shopping.
The members of the AP level team are seniors Jon Fung, David Jaress, Reid Kawamoto, and Braxton Sato.
The members of the Non AP level team are senior Gian Garduque, and sophomores Michelle Ky, Leslie-Anne Kawano and Jesse Franklin-Murdock.
The AP team is coached by Mr. Richard Rankin. The Non AP team by Mr. Richie Kibota.
This the fourth straight year that 'Iolani has qualified for the finals in New York City.
