At the One Team Chapel on December 3rd, 2007, seventh and eighth grade teachers expressed their gratitude to students who exemplify admirable character traits such as helpfulness, cheerfulness, and generosity of spirit.
They saluted ten students who represent ‘Iolani’s "One-Team" spirit. Each of these people helps to make Iolani a finer, happier place.

Shayd, like his name, is one cool guy. He always makes positive comments and is humble at all times. Shayd is a young man who, when he understands a concept, beams, "I GET IT!" He has a good sense of humor and knows when and where it's appropriate. Wherever you find Shayd, you will find laughter.
KELSEY TASOE, grade 8.
Kelsey's jovial personality makes everyone smile. Kelsey is humble and open to criticism, and honest. She works co-operatively with anybody and is an all around great kid. With a ready smile to share, Kelsey is respected for her warm personality and conscientious work ethic. When the material becomes difficult, she doesn't complain; she simply asks for ways to improve. She always tries her best.

Blaise has 3 nicknames: Braddah Blaise, Uncle Raphael, & Bush Man. Blaise is a special, one-of-a-kind person. He is so animated in class that he has to speak with his hands all the time. He is also polite, generous, and has a great sense of humor that puts a smile on all our faces. He is so fun and funny, his classmates love him (his teachers, as well). Blaise is the kind of person who is going to be a leader, as he already sets a good example for behavior and serves as a role model for his peers. Blaise is friendly to all, and he goes around giving people high-fives and "pounds," lifting the spirits of the class. He makes us forget our troubles and reminds us why 'Iolani is such a wonderful place! And more wonderful with him in it.
JOSIAH SITUMEANG, grade 7
Josiah embodies a wholesome, kind, cheerful, cooperative, giving and lead-by-example spirit. Father Bray would be proud to know that Josiah is one of ours. He is unassuming, yet Josiah always comes through. He has the respect of his peers and commands attention without calling for it. As a class officer, Josiah has given valuable service to the seventh grade and his classmates without expecting recognition or gratitude in return. Josiah gladly takes on any task necessary, smilingly, even if it might be with little notice or direction. He can handle! He is quick to step up, whether to help out or to encourage someone else.
All these students make other people happier by small kindnesses and a warm, friendly manner, a kind-hearted smile and helpfulness. They make us jolly during this holiday season and throughout the year.
