Girls volleyball wins state championship

The 'Iolani girls varsity volleyball team swept top-seeded Kamehameha, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18, to win the 2018 HHSAA Division I State Championship on Oct. 27 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena.

The Raiders, who are nationally ranked at No. 8 by USA Today, beat Mililani in the semifinals, 25-17, 25-20, 25-14. 'Iolani opened the tournament by defeating Kapolei in the first round and third-seeded King Kekaulike in the quarterfinals.

'Iolani School has now won three state titles in girls volleyball (2001, 2016 and 2018).

The Raiders finished in second to Kamehameha (No. 7, USA Today) in Interscholastic League of Honolulu play.
