Fund A Faculty Development Workshop

"This investment in both supplies and dedicated teacher professional development is all done with one goal: to turn students who "do" reading and writing into students who are Readers and Writers."

- Hilary Andaya, 'Iolani Lower School Literacy Coach

Excellent teachers make an excellent school, and we are dedicated to the continued growth of our faculty's skills so that they can guide our students to success.

This summer, 'Iolani's K-8 faculty have the opportunity to participate in an intensive workshop that will further their work in developing reading and writing skills of our younger students.
Students who grow up through these units will enter high school as critical thinkers who can not only handle books and articles with keen attention, but also can express their own, authentic ideas in artfully written responses.
Your gift to the 'Iolani Fund in support of Faculty will help us to bring experts from The Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University to campus to work with our faculty and also provide the resources needed to implement the new curriculum.
Click on the video below to hear our faculty, in their own words, describe their experience working at 'Iolani School and the incredible dedication they have to their students.
