One Team

ONE TEAM AROUND THE WORLD

One Team values shape and define an ʻIolani School education. Thus, alumni have become inspired and empowered to discover their passions, to pursue their paths, to make positive differences, and to give back to the world. The alumni pictured in the video's quick photo montage are just a few who represent the thousands of ʻIolani graduates -- past, present and future -- who embody selfless service and humble leadership. Dr. Scott Tan '12 is researching neuromorphic computers to build better language translators and rescue robots to aid those with disabilities. Steph Speirs '03 is the co-founder and CEO of Solstice which provides affordable solar power to homes in the United States. Pop music star Shenan Brown '99 is spreading aloha through his music and messages around the world. Olympian Kawika Shoji '06 represents the U.S. on a global stage. Director General of the International Vaccine Institute Dr. Jerome Kim '77 is working to find a vaccine for COVID-19. What connects all ʻIolani School alumni is the foundation of the One Team spirit, an ethos that endures in our global community.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE VIDEO

Capturing the feeling of what One Team is all about was not an easy task. During a one-year time frame, filmmaker Johnathan Walk '05 spent hours talking to members of the community, attending school events, filming different ʻIolani scenes, and capturing moments and glimpses of the school's fabric and life. The voices of more than 30 members of the community were recorded in a small office on campus. Everyone who was asked to support the making of this video did so wholeheartedly and happily, because that's what One Team is all about and always will be. Mahalo nui loa to everyone who helped to make this video possible.
